Using posters instead of original artwork has become popular over the last few years and, to me, definitely inspires the idea of Wanderlust. With the choices available it gives us a chance to represent our passions on the walls of our homes often very economically.
I am coveting the idea of some large format vintage posters in boxed white frames on the dark teal wall in our living room. When we travel I am always looking for just the right one. Not sure what it looks like but I will know it when I see it. Maybe showcasing some important places to us – New Zealand (well it is home afterall), Istanbul (my favourite city in the world) and Dubai (my kids home and ours for the last 11 years). Will keep you posted on what I find.
Now thinking about where you could find things that were similar – definitely check out these sites:
- Free Vintage Posters have a great collection of posters that you can print, mainly in a small format, that you could slip into simple frames and arrange a collection on a wall.
- If you are based in the UAE, or just love the vibe of Dubai or Abu Dhabi, have a look at these vintage inspired posters at HighLife Dubai. Claire Napper has captured the funny side of living here along with key landmarks in a really special way. All printed, and framed if you fancy – ready to hang on your walls.
- Or if your travel desires are a little more extra-terrestrial then maybe have a look at the posters that the team at NASA’s Jet Propolsion Laboratory have released. These are free to download and printable up to 20 x 30 inches so could make quite a statement on your wall.
- I have also come across the team at Vissevasse. Gorgeous posters, in muted tones, designed by a Danish team. Would create a statement on your walls without being too bold.
